Om Swastiastu,
Welcome to Desa Adat Padangtegal, a traditional Balinese customary village located in the cultural heart of Ubud, Gianyar Regency, Bali. Padangtegal is a living community where sacred temples, ancestral traditions, environmental care, and community life continue to grow in harmony.
Guided by the philosophy of Tri Hita Karana — harmony with the Divine, harmony among people, and harmony with nature — Padangtegal preserves its religious, cultural, and social identity through temple ceremonies, banjar life, customary governance, and daily acts of cooperation.
Padangtegal is internationally known as the home of Mandala Suci Wenara Wana, the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary Ubud. This sacred forest is more than a visitor destination; it is a temple complex, conservation area, spiritual landscape, and community-managed institution that protects nature while supporting the welfare of the village.
As a Desa Adat, Padangtegal continues to strengthen its community through culture, education, sustainability, and local economic development. Village institutions such as the Sacred Monkey Forest Sanctuary, LPD Padangtegal, Rumah Kompos, and Bali Forest School reflect the village’s commitment to preserving tradition while preparing for the future.
